Mihich

The Foundation for Jewish Philanthropies presented the 2009 Endowment Leadership Awards to Maestro JoAnn Falletta and Dr. Enrico Mihich for their leadership and dedication to the Marcel Tyberg Musical Legacy Project of the Foundation for Jewish Philanthropies. Dr. Mihich has preserved and protected the original manuscripts, first entrusted to his father, of the classical music of Marcel Tyberg.

Tyberg was a young composer and a Roman Catholic who was murdered by the Nazis at Auschwitz solely because of his Jewish ancestry. With the support of Maestro Falletta of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, his exceptional music is gradually coming to light. Two piano sonatas, a trio, a sextet for strings and his third symphony have been performed and recorded thus far. The Foundation is proud to recognize our honorees for their extraordinary efforts to introduce the world to the talent and creativity of Marcel Tyberg and his rediscovered musical masterpieces.
