2010 Community Leadership Award presented to
Saul Elkin and David Bunis

The Foundation for Jewish Philanthropies presented its 2010 Community Leadership Awards to Saul Elkin and David Bunis, founders of the Jewish Repertory Theatre. The two men founded the Jewish Repertory Theatre in 2003 as a cultural arts project of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Buffalo. Over the past seven years, the theater project has established itself as a vital and respected part of the professional theater scene in Western New York, presenting award-winning plays appealing to diverse audiences.

As producer, David Bunis spearheads the effort to provide the financial underwriting the theater requires. As artistic director, Saul Elkin ensures the quality of all productions, drawing on his experience as an accomplished actor and the long-time chairman of the Theater Department of the University at Buffalo. The Foundation is pleased to honor both of these outstanding individuals for their contributions to the cultural life of our community.
